Rizzoli Sprouse

Mauricio & Roger Padilha
Arguably the progenitor of graffiti-chic, Stephen Sprouse fused punk and fashion like no one else. He went from Halston straight to the Bowery, where his unique aesthetic — especially fresh for the late 1970s — completely took off. The Sprouse family granted the Padilhas exclusive access to his archives, so look for never-seen works-in-progress as well as work from other photographers. The Padilha brothers are the owners of the largest private collection of Sprouse’s work (as well as Marc Jacobs-era Perry Ellis veterans!) and offer a lovely words-and-pictures retrospective of his career.
