    Tips for self-measuring

    Stand up straight.

Breathe naturally. Don’t suck in or puff your chest out; just be at ease.

Enlist a friend to help you measure... it’s more accurate, and a lot more fun.

    Don’t have a tape measure?
We'll send you one. For free!

    Fig. 1 Neck

Measure around the base of the neck, starting in the center, well below the Adam’s apple but above the collarbone. Wrap the tape around the back of the neck, under the collar, and bring it around to the front, keeping it flat against the skin. This won't necessarily match your neck size – don't worry about it.

    Fig. 2 Cross-Shoulder

Measure from the edge of one shoulder to the edge of the other shoulder – this is where your shoulder drops off into your arm, not necessarily at the shoulder seam of your shirt. Make sure the tape crosses over the most prominent bone at the back of the neck. Remember to be at ease, without puffing out or sucking in.

    Fig. 3 Chest

Measure around the fullest part of the chest, keeping the tape flat against the body, with no excess fabric. Make sure it's level all the way around... think of it as the equator of the chest.

    Fig. 4 Waist

Measure around the waist, right over the bellybutton. Keep the tape flat against the body, with no excess fabric, and make sure that it's level all the way around.

    Fig. 5 Hip

Measure around the fullest part of the hips, beginning at the side seam of your jeans or trousers. (Make sure your pockets are empty first.) Keep the tape flat against the body, with no excess fabric, and make sure that it's level all the way around.

    Fig. 6 Left Sleeve

To get in position, make a soft fist and relax both of your arms at your sides, with your thumb behind the side seam of your jeans or trousers. Measure from the most prominent bone at the back of your neck, across to the edge of your left shoulder, down the left arm, all the way to the first knuckle of your middle finger. Subtract 2 from that number.

Note: this is the most difficult measurement to take on yourself – you will need a friend

    Fig. 7 Left Wrist

Measure around the left wrist, over the wrist bone, keeping the tape flat against the skin.

    Fig. 8 Right Sleeve

To get in position, make a soft fist and relax both of your arms at your sides, with your thumb behind the side seam of your jeans or trousers. Measure from the most prominent bone at the back of your neck, across to the edge of your right shoulder, down the right arm, all the way to the first knuckle of your middle finger. Subtract 2 from that number.

Note: this is the most difficult measurement to take on yourself – you will need a friend.

    Fig. 9 Right Wrist

Measure around the right wrist, over the wrist bone, keeping the tape flat against the skin.
